The Alcohol & Drug Advisory Board consists of a diverse membership appointed by each of the County Board of Supervisors. The diverse membership consists of concerned community members with representation from law enforcement, persons in recovery, family members of people in recovery, professionals, and educators.
As an Advisory Board our primary role is to elicit input from the community on issues concerning alcohol & drugs, share our ideas with county staff, and as necessary, make policy recommendations to the Board of Supervisors based on such community concerns.
The diversity of the Advisory Board members is notably useful when performing our secondary role as intermediary advisors to the Department of Alcohol & Drug Program (ADP). The broad perspective each member brings to the Board greatly adds to the improvement of the department and to alcohol & drug services provided to the community. Advisory Board Members visit contracted programs to ensure quality of service. We also assist the department in making funding decisions by participating in a review process for funding as well as make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for funding allocations.
The Alcohol & Drug Advisory Board meetings are open to the public. They are held the first Monday of the month from 4-6pm. Usually these are held at Pea Soup Andersen's restaurant in Buellton. Check with the Alcohol & Drug Program Office to confirm the date and location.
If you have an interest in serving on the Advisory Board, you may call either the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors (568-2190) or the Alcohol and Drug Program Office for more information.
