What alcohol or drug services do the Santa Barbara County Alcohol & Drug Program provide?

Answer: The Santa Barbara County Alcohol & Drug Program is primarily an administrative office that contracts with local community based organizations to provide alcohol & drug prevention, early intervention, treatment and recovery services to the community. In addition, SBADP conducts project-specific preliminary assessments and recommendations for treatment placement for Adult and Juvenile offenders. SBADP also refers callers or visitors to local alcohol and other drug prevention, intervention and treatment programs.

Where can I go if I have an alcohol or drug problem?

Answer: If you have an alcohol or drug problem, you can contact SBADP's administrative office at (805) 681-5440 for assistance in locating a service provider in your area or search our website for local alcohol or drug treatment services.

Are residential treatment facilities available for alcohol or drug treatment?


Answer: Residential treatment facilities are available but space is limited. Clients are often placed on waiting lists. To find out more about residential treatment facilities, you can contact our administrative office at (805) 681-5440 or search our website.

Are detoxification services available in my community?

Answer: Yes, detoxification services are provided within the county. Some alcohol & drug service clients do require detoxification prior to entry into an alcohol or drug treatment program. Where can I go for "Court Directed" treatment?

Answer: Those who are directed by the Court to obtain treatment should contact their assigned Probation or Parole Officer to discuss what program they might be required to attend. If you have questions about the DUI, PC1000, Drug Court or SACPA (Prop 36), you can contact Asia Eichmiller, ADP Specialist at (805) 681-5445 or search our website.

Is treatment available for those suffering from both mental problems and substance abuse problems?

Answer: Yes, alcohol, drug and mental health services are available for person with both an alcohol and other drug problem and mental illness, sometimes referred to as dually diagnosed. The following providers specialize in dual diagnosis treatment: for the Santa Barbara region contact Sanctuary Psychiatric at (805) 569-2785 and Phoenix House at (805) 965-3434. You may also call our departments' Mental Health Access Line at 1-888-868-1649.

Where can my teenager receive services for their alcohol or drug problem?

Answer: Treatment services are available for teens in our community. Each area of the county has a Youth & Family Treatment Center to serve youth with substance abuse problems and provide counseling to their families. SBADP contracts with the following agencies to provide youth & family treatment:

Where can family members of people with an alcohol or drug problem get help?

Answer: If you are currently living with someone or concerned about someone with an with an alcohol or other drug problem, you can contact Al-Anon (805) 899-8302. You may also contact our Youth and Family Treatment Centers. Each of these programs works closely with families experiencing what you are. To find out more about contact:

Is there a cost for services?

Answer: Most of your programs are funded with Medi-Cal Health Insurance or through a sliding scale fee arrangement. Cost should not be a barrier to seeking out treatment.
