IV Parent Neighborhood Group

Project Description:
The Isla Vista Teen Center will act as community liaison for Latino residents in Isla Vista to participate in the Isla Vista AOD Council. The Community Liaison will help to develop a Neighborhood Group comprised of Parents and Teens to monitor alcohol use in IV Parks.

Project Name:
Residential Risk Management

Project Description:
The HOZHO Institute and the Isla Vista AOD Council will implement on component of the "Safer Isla Vista" project. The HOZHO Institute will implement the Residential Risk Management project which includes residential risk assessment, social host training, and strengthening lease agreements.

Landlord Notification

Project Description:
The IV Foot Patrol office will continue to issue landlord notification letters to property managers and landlords whose property address receives nuisance related calls. The IV Foot Patrol will work with HOZHO Institute to strengthen lease agreements in Isla Vista.

Isla Vista Alternative Activity Promotion

Project Description:
Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) will provide additional promotions for alternative events occurring in Isla Vista. This will include coordination with other community based organizations that are conducting events, host a website promoting the events, and producing media pieces about events.

Project Description:
UCB will be conducting program evaluation of "Safer Isla Vista". UCB will be providing technical assistance with "Safer Isla Vista" partners to develop an integrated plan for "Safer Isla Vista" projects as well as develop an overall program evaluation.

SBIR

Project Description:
UCSB Student Health Services will provide Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral Services for clients utilizing emergency room services with alcohol or drug related trauma. The SBIR program will also include a voluntary survey that will collect events that occurred prior to the injury. This data gathered from the voluntary survey will be utilized by the "Safer Isla Vista" project to help identify high risk drinking patterns in Isla Vista.

Domestic Violence Solutions, DVS, will assist in linking alcohol & drug treatment services with domestic violence counseling services. These linkages in systems will help to better serve families in need of both alcohol or drug treatment and domestic violence services. DVS will also cross train alcohol & drug and domestic violence counselors in serving special population clients.

The Santa Barbara Teen Council is a leadership project aimed at developing and sustaining a youth voice within the City of Santa Barbara. In addition, the Teen Council will produce a Youth Summit around alcohol & drug issues that concern youth in Santa Barbara.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring Program

Project Description:
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a mentoring program for at-risk youth. The Big Brothers Big Sisters program will be provided for youth who are in treatment or whose family member is in treatment at the Youth & Family Center as well as other at-risk youth interested in having a mentor.

Three projects in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Lompoc will serve the county.
