Welcome to the Department of Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health Services (ADMHS) web site and portal. ADMHS provides early intervention and treatment services to approximately 14,000 clients and substance abuse prevention services to about 5,000 residents per year. The Department’s goal is to move clients toward independence and integration into the community. Toward this end, ADMHS practices a system of care which promotes partnering with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and community resources for the prevention, treatment and recovery from addiction and mental illness.

     The biggest impact on the department is the ongoing implementation of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA). MHSA is affording ADMHS the opportunity to transform its approach to serving residents with mental illness. Santa Barbara County is expected to receive an estimated $5 million annually for new Mental Health Services Act (MHSA, Proposition 63) programs. These funds allow the department, partner agencies and community based organizations to leverage new and existing resources to fund approximately $8.2 million in services to the community. Ten new programs have been approved for funding under MHSA and are in various stages of implementation.

     The Alcohol and Drug Program’s major initiative this year is to provide support to the County’s anti-methamphetamine campaign and expand services within resource capabilities. In addition, ADP will be sustaining components of programs which address under-age and binge drinking, as well as providing twenty residential treatment beds for pregnant and parenting women in Santa Maria.
