- What Is WinZip?
- WinZip is software that allows you to create files called
"archives", which can be compressed to save space as well as
encrypted. Zip files can contain
one or more files.
- The Zip files can be encrypted
and password protected.
The process makes it easy to group files for transporting and
copying.

- Highlight and click on WinZip from the drop-down menu.
- Click on Add to WinZip file.

- In the Add window, WinZip prompts you with the file to be added to the
new Zip file.
- Enter the file name and the file folder path of the new Zip file (C:\temp\winzip.zip).
- In the Options panel, check the box next to “Encrypt added files”
- Then click the Add button.

- After the WinZip file is created and encrypted, a window appears with
the contents of the new WinZip file
- In this example, we created a file called ‘C:\temp\winzip.zip’ that
contains the Word document ‘winzip.doc’
- The ‘*’ after the file name lets you know the file is encrypted and
password protected.

- Open the Outlook message that contains a WinZip file attachment.

- Right-click on the file attachment and click on Save - As from the
drop-down menu.
- Save to a location on the network (g:\group\????\winzip.zip).

- When the ‘Save Attachment’ window appears, navigate to a location on the
network
- Then click the Save button.

- Click on the Extract button.

- Enter the location to save the extracted file.
- Check the box next to “Open Explorer window”.
- Click the Extract button.

- Then click OK button.
